MentoTex explains why people think and behave the way they do around money. The tone is calm and analytical: a clear explanation of the science, with the researchers named, the way a well-read friend would walk you through it over coffee.
What we do
Every video on the MentoTex YouTube channel has a full written article here, with sources, so you can read at your own pace and check the research yourself. We cover concepts from behavioral psychology and behavioral finance, and we break down books that shaped how people think about money.
How we work
- Named research. We cite the studies and researchers behind an idea, such as Daniel Kahneman, Dan Ariely, Robert Cialdini, Morgan Housel, and Sendhil Mullainathan and Eldar Shafir, instead of vague claims about “science”.
- Honest about limits. Where findings have been debated or replicated with mixed results, we say so.
- Awareness, not advice. We explain patterns of thinking. We do not tell you what to buy, sell, or do with your money.
Who it is for
Curious, educated adults who want to understand their own financial decisions better. You do not need a finance background. You do need to be willing to find out that some of your habits are more predictable than they feel.

A note on money and trust
MentoTex is free to read. The site is supported by advertising, affiliate links (for example to audiobooks and book-summary services), and in future possibly sponsors. Affiliate links are marked and cost you nothing extra. Revenue never decides what we conclude about a book or a study.
Everything on MentoTex is educational. It is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and quiz results are tools for psychological self-insight, not recommendations. For decisions about your own money, speak to a qualified professional.
