This policy explains what information MentoTex (“we”, “us”) collects when you use this website, why, and the choices you have. It is a plain-language summary and not legal advice. Last updated: October 16, 2026.
Who we are
MentoTex is a website and YouTube channel about behavioral psychology and personal finance. For privacy questions, contact us through our contact form.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Comments. If you comment, WordPress stores the name, email address, website (if provided), IP address, and browser details you submit. Your email address is not published.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address so we can send you the newsletter. It is stored on our site with the date you agreed and where you signed up, and processed by our email service provider, MailerLite. Quiz waitlists and quiz results emailed to you use the same list. You can unsubscribe from any email.
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs such as IP address, pages requested, and browser type, used to keep the site secure and working.
- Analytics. We may use analytics tools to understand which articles are read and how people find us. This data is used in aggregate.
- Cookies and similar technologies. The site itself uses only the cookies it needs to work, such as remembering comment details if you ask it to. If you sign in to see saved quiz results, we set one necessary cookie (mxq_s) that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days; signing out removes it. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you allow them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer.
Quizzes
Our quizzes are scored in your browser, and your individual answers are never stored. If you choose to email yourself your result, we send your answers once to our server so it can double-check the result and write the email, then discard them. We keep your email address, the optional name you give us (used to greet you and to print on your report), and the date you agreed. You can change or remove the name any time under My results. If you ask for a PDF without saving anything, the name is used to make that one file and is not kept. Nothing is saved to a history until you open the sign-in link in that email. After that we store only the result type, your scores, the quiz and the date, so you can see them under My results, compare retakes, download your data or delete your account at any time. We delete accounts that are inactive for 24 months. Sign-in uses an emailed link instead of a password. Emails are sent through our email service provider. If you also tick the separate box for follow-up emails, we send three short emails over about a week. They start only after you open the sign-in link, every one has a one-click stop link, and they end if you unsubscribe or delete your account. PDF reports and result images are generated when you ask for them and are not stored; the share image is made on your device. If you share a result link, it names only the result type and contains no personal information. Quiz results are for psychological self-insight and are not financial advice.
Videos and third parties
- YouTube. Videos on articles load a preview image from YouTube. The video player itself only loads, from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain, when you press play. YouTube then processes data under Google’s privacy policy.
- Advertising. We display ads from third-party networks. These partners may use cookies to show and measure ads, and to personalize them where the law allows and you have consented.
- Affiliate links. Links to partners such as audiobook or book-summary services are marked. If you click one, the partner may set a cookie so that a purchase can be credited to us. Links that go through our own redirect (addresses starting with /go/) also add to an anonymous click count. We do not store who clicked. How we use information
- To run, secure, and improve the website.
- To publish and moderate comments and reply to messages.
- To send the newsletter, if you subscribed.
- To measure readership and fund the site through advertising and affiliate partnerships.
Sharing and retention
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site (for example hosting, email delivery, analytics, and advertising partners), and where the law requires. We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Comments are kept until deleted. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, such as the EU, UK, Canada, Australia, or California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise a right, contact us using the contact form. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
